The Plant is provided with Pollution Control equipments like Bag Filters, Effluent Treatment Plant, Electrostatic Precipitators and 67 Mtr tall Stacks and sufficient Green Belt.
Mangal TMT is produced through primary Steel Melting route using the best quality Iron Ore and Imported Coal. It is subsequently processed through DRI Plant, Induction Furnance (IF), Ladle Refining Furnace and Continuously Cast into Billets. The resultant Steel is of Superior Quality containing no harmful ingredients and ensures the desired and consistent properties in TMT Bars.
The Cast Billets are rolled in most advanced Rolling Mill equipped with computer controlled process monitoring devices to ensure uniform properties in each TMT Bar.

MAA MAHAMAYA INDUSTRIES LTD. manufactures Thermo Mechanically Treated re-reinforcement bars using the world renowned Thermex Technology. “MANGAL TMT”;
Re-Bars are produced in the state-of-art plant under close supervision of its front-line senior engineers.
MANGAL TMT is one of the producers which produces through a thorough process with adequate capabilities, process optimisation and strict control that should be used to maintain a good quality & reliability of the products.
The Re-Bars are classified as following:o MANGAL TMT Re-Bars- Fe415
MANGAL TMT is prepared by using iron ore locally available in the Region. The iron ore is ground, beneficiated & Pelletized. The Pellets are used to produce high-grade sponge iron. MANGAL TMT also generates power for merchant sale and to feed Its newly built Integrated Steel Plant. Steel is melted in Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) of 120MT capacity, powered by 100MVA Transformer and Oxy-Fuel Burners (5 Nos.) of 3.5MW each. Fluxes in form of Claimed Lime & Dolomite are used to form basic slag for refining the melt, to reduce impurities - Phosphorous & Sulphur. EAF is also using Carbon Injection & Oxygen to make foaming slag to reduce pick-up of gas pickup, reduce refractory damage & achieve maximum heating efficiency by shielding the liquid metal.
Temperature & Chemistry through Eccentric Bottom Tapping (EBT) to avoid Carry-Over Slag. Small amounts of Ferro-Alloys & Fluxes are also added during tapping in the ladle.
The ladle with liquid metal is transferred to ladle refining furnace (LRF), powered with 20MVA Transformer for alloying & refining. The liquid metal is continuously purged with Argon gas to achieve homogenous chemistry & Temperature required for continuous casting.
The liquid metal is transferred to Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) of 5 Strands & Section size of 160mm Sq. The casting machine is also equipped with auto Mould control to avoid slag entrapment. Liquid Metal is poured from Ladle to tundish using refractory snorkel to avoid re-oxidation of Steel. Tundish of 32MT capacity distributes the liquid metal into 5 strands for casting in water cooled Copper Moulds. The cast billets are cut into required lengths for rolling into TMT Bars. Billets can be directly hot-charged into Reheating Furnace of Rolling mill or can be cooled on cooling bed & stored in billet yard.
Rolling mill has reheating furnace of 170 TPH & can accommodate billets of up to 12m length. Billets are heated to 1150-1200°C Temperatures & rolled in mill having 20 stands in sections from 8mm to 40mm. The rolled bars at temperatures of around 1000°C passes through online high-yield quenching & self ¬tempering 'PQS' technology (From Pomini, Italy). Rolled bars Level marten site on th fine grained structure at the core. This gives high strength & ductility to TMT bars which is superior to IS 1786:2008.
The bars are initially cut by flying sheer 7-8 multiples of 12m and delivered to cooling bed. These bars are further cut by cold shears into 12m length, bundled in required weight & tagged with all details for its traceability. These bundles are transferred to dispatch yard for storage. Rolled Bars are inspected & tested for physical properties like tensile strength, yield strength & elongation, before dispatching to customers/ Stockyards.
Elaborate and exhaustive quality assurance systems are provided and are implemented through skilled & quality conscious manpower at MMIL. Unitwise quality assurance system are as below:
Rolled sections of various sizes are produced by MMIL. Conforming to BIS Standards. High Quality Billets conforming to IS 2830 having carbon content of less than 0.2% are used to roll sections. The rolled sections are highly bendable, ductile and easily weld able.
Products that are manufactured undergo a well-documented quality control procedure. The in-house test laboratory is BIS approved and equipped with the most modern and sophisticated equipment for testing of chemical and mechanical properties during manufacturing process.

Billets of different designations are manufactured in three different grades namely A, B, C having sulphur, phosphorous content (on ladle analysis) and carbon equivalent as follows: The following are the Special features of the MMIL Billets :o Excellent Surface Finish: The Billets produced by MMIL are free from any surface crack or lamination.
Corrosion is the oxidation of a metal in a normal atmospheric condition owing to the excessive presence of moisture and oxygen in the air. Corrosion of the metal is a very natural and rapid phenomenon in areas of high humidity, places close to the sea or in the presence of saline water. Gaseous emissions in industrial area also cause corrosion of the metal. Corrosion is the greatest, silent menace that can destroy the toughest and best built structure in the world like Buildings, Bridges, Dams, Chimneys, Jetty, Industrial Plants, Port establishments etc.
When the concrete is freshly cast, it contains high ph value (ph value - 12-13). This creates a protective passive oxide layer over the steel surface, preventing it from corrosion. Gradually, with constant ingress of oxygen, water, chlorides, carbon dioxide etc. the ph value of the concrete reduces to below 8 causing the decay of the protective layer. The Chloride ions also attack the passive layer on the metal surface exposing it to oxygen and moisture. Once the passive layer is broken the electrochemicall reaction of corrosion progress unimpeded.
Any construction of permanent nature requires concrete with steel reinforcement. The ‘durability’ of concrete depends on its impermeability to water, oxygen, carbon dioxide, chlorides, sulphates etc. these elements corrode and weaken the reinforcement bars embedded in the concrete.
Efforts to control corrosion led to Galvanized and Epoxy coated reinforcement bars- but failed in practical usage due to the risk of disbonding and holidays, causing accelerated corrosion. The solution was to take a new metallurgical route- controlled composition, alloying with anti-corrosion elements, and improved production processes that would give the steel bars inherent corrosion resistant properties.
Corrosion resistant elements such as copper, phosphorous and chromium are added in appropriate measures to the hot metal for manufacturing CRS Billets. At the Rolling Stage, the advanced Technologies complements the route. The CR elements together with tempered martensite outer surface stops the corrosion of Re-Bars.

Special Corrosion Resistant properties of MMIL CRS TMT Re-Bars:
MANGAL CRS TMT Re-Bars have been exposed to very rigorous corrosion mediums and evaluated for various corrosion resistant properties as per ASTM standard viz. Immersion Test, Salt Spray Test, Exposure Test, Dioxide Test and Dynamic Test. The result of such corrosion tests indicated that MANGAL CRS TMT Re-bars are having corrosion resistant index (CRI) of 1:7min as compared to CRI of normal TMT Re-Bars.
MANAGAL TMT-CRS Re-Enforcement Bars are best applied at:o Oil Gas Exploration sites.
This MMIL Branded Product is ideal for applications in RCC structures in flyovers, dams, bridges and other critical structures where high yield load (design load) is required without compromising on the ductility.

The simple formula to calculate the area of steel in tension of a single reinforcement beam is as follows:
In case of Fe 415 and Fe 500 TMT Re-Bar material, the value of fy would be 415 N/mm2 and 500 N/mm2 respectively.
Hence, the total quantity of steel saved is 170 Kg by using MANGAL 500 TMT Re-Bars in place of Fe 415 grade material available in the market.
It is known that increasing the carbon content of the material increases the strength of the material. MANGAL 500 TMT Re-Bar is produced with low carbon equivalent. The higher Strength property is imparted through controlled thermo mechanical treatment to ensure superior weld ability. MANGAL 500 TMT Re-Bars do not require pre or post welding treatment.
MANGAL TMT Re-Bars have a uniform and thick tempered martensitic rim, completely free from internal stress. This martensitic rim (thicker than Fe415) improves the corrosion resistance of the MANGAL 500 TMT Re-Bars as well as fatigue strength, when compared to traditional TMT Re-Bars.

MMIL Quality Management has four levels:o Inspection
Quality inspection and quality control rely on supervision to make sure that no mistakes are made. The basic approach to quality is inspection, detection, and correction of errors.
The next level quality control is to inspect, correct, investigate and find the cause of the problems; and take action to prevent errors from re-occurring.
The third level quality assurance includes the setting of standards with documentation and also the documentation of the method of checking against the specified standards.
Under Total Quality Management our prime focus is to:I. Meet the needs of the customer requirements.
To conduct inspection, testing, identification and traceability of materials and products in various stages of production in accordance with the applicable IS specifications and customer requirements.
The process covers inspection, testing, identification and traceability of the product from receipt stage, in process inspection and final inspection till despatch.
The sized iron-ore is tested for its Fe content and coal for its ash content and is then charged to D.R.I plant. The finished product of DRI plant i.e. sponge iron is then tested for its Fe content and chemical composition and is identified by day wise production.
The conforming material is taken to SMS plant for charging and in case of non-conformation, material is sent to rejection yard.
In the SMS plant the material is melted at about 18,000°C in an Electric Arc Furnace. The slag is removed automatically in the Arc furnace to achieve precision control of chemistry of the molten metal. The hot molten metal is checked for its chemical composition. Depending upon the composition required, various Ferro alloys are added to it. Then the molten steel with requisite chemical composition from Electric Arc Furnace is sent to the continuous casting unit for casting billet.
The billets thus produced are first visually inspected for the surface condition and then tested for its chemical composition. If any surface discontinuity is observed in the material it is then sent to SMS unit for recycling. The tested billet is then sent to the Rolling Mill raw material yard with a proper batch number.
The billets are then taken for production in the Rolling Mill. During the production process, inspection is done at various stages. The nonconforming products are identified and segregated properly for recycling. The finished product is then subjected to final inspection (visual inspection & physical property) and a Lot Number is allotted to it before being stored in the finished product yard.
The finished product is properly tagged which carries the following information:I. Name of the Company.
